THE SURF
MOMPICHE
EXPERIENCE

Let us take care of all the details so at the end of the day you can slip into indulgence with chef-prepared meals, a selection of wines, beers, hot showers, yoga, and even massage. Every day brings new opportunities for adventure: surf, hike, fish, ride, kayak, SUP, or just chill—the choice is yours.

What to Expect at Casa Surf

No urban noise or city lights, just a sky full of stars and the stillness of night (give or take a few howler monkeys!)

Your days here are flexible, with an incredible menu of activities for any palate. And there’s plenty of things to do – like guided jungle hikes, fishing with a local fisherman, overnight camping on an uninhabited island, exploring the mangroves, or visiting a local cacao farm—but the best thing is that Casa Surf offers an in-house concierge who can hook you up with the right people, best deals and activities.

That being said, Mompiche is all about the surf. Our waves stand out from all the Ecuadorian coastal towns with the most user-friendly left hand point you could ever imagine. Sand bottoms, warm uncrowded waters, friendly and helpful locals plus a plethora of knowledgeable surf instructors to take you to the next level. Need a rental board we’ve got you covered!

Surf’s Up

Them’s the Breaks…

Mompiche has great waves, especially when a north swell comes in. There are four main surf spots:

La Punta: This is the point break, with lots of nice slow left waves for all levels! Walk around the beach and over the rocks, or follow the short footpath up to get to the hidden beach. If you are a beginner, do not go beyond the rocks. Low tide is best! Works best when a north swell comes in.

El Rio: To the right of Mompiche from the beach to the river opening, or slightly beyond. It is a beach break, but it can be nice for beginners on small days. Works best at mid-high tide.

Casa Surf – our namesake, about 2 km north of town there is a series of sandbars in front of Casa Surf that make for some terrific beach break. Best at medium to high tides

Playa Negra: Walk to Playa Negra for more beach break waves. Steep drops, and better for more short boards and experienced surfers. Best mid-high tide.

Check out Magic Seaweed for tide and swell forecasts (but always take them with a pinch of salt!)
